South African veteran batter Rassie Van Der Dussen lost his wicket in hilarious fashion during the SA20 game on Saturday. MI Cape Town who began the season with a huge win over Sunrisers Eastern Cape took on Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers stadium. The incident happened in the third ball of the fifth over with Lutho Sipamla bowling to Connor Estherhuizen.
The batter got an inside edge off his bat and took a brisk single as Tabraiz Shamsi misfielded the ball. Sensing there was a chance to go back for the second run, Estherhuizen called his senior partner for the run. The young batter though changed his mind at the last moment to send back Van Der Dussen.

It was too late as the batter had to scamper to try and make his way back to safety. More hilarious scene ensued as bat got stuck on the wicket before Jonny Bairstow took off the bails. Third umpire saw the bat inches short of the crease as Van Der Dussen was dismissed for four runs off 10 balls.
Joburg Super Kings bowlers leave MICT in tatters
Faf Du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first and while reveling the though behind the decision said “We are gonna have a bowl. Couple of reasons. Rain around in the evening. Has been under the covers. We have got a bit of oomph to our team. Incredibly hungry personality is Johnny Bairstow. Good depth to our side”
Meanwhile, MICT skipper Rashid Khan said “Good experience for me this captaincy. Enjoying the challenge. We have experience in the side. Makes the job easy for me. Great mixture of great players and helps me taking this team ahead. Toss is not under our control. We would focus on our batting and hopefully it is a full game”
Reeza Hendricks was the first man out for four runs when he was caught by Devon Conway off Evan Jones. After the fall of Rassie Van Der Dussen, MICT lost two more wickets in quick time. Connor Esterhuizen was out for 8 caught by Wihaan Lubbe off David Wiese. Veteran batter was the next man out for 11 caught by Lubbe off Shamsi to leave MICT at 30/4 in the 9th over.
