Rohit Sharma had missed the last game versus Lucknow due to an injury he suffered before the game. Rohit was seen giving it his all in the nets as he looks to make a fine comeback with the bat after a woeful start to the season. The return of both Bumrah and Rohit is what MI needed as the team struggles in the bottom half of the table in the early part of IPL 2025 season.

Mahela Jayawardene provides update on Rohit Sharma’s fitness

Speaking to the media after the 12-run loss to Lucknow on Friday, MI coach Mahela Jayawardene gave an update on Rohit’s fitness. The former Lankan skipper said “Rohit got a hit on his knee just in the IT band and he tried to bat , (but) couldn't put any weight on it so again he came and did a fitness test early today to try and it was discomfort for him to bat, put weight on that so he felt that it wasn't 100% for him to play this game so that's why we precautioned”

Jayawardene later revealed “We thought give him a few more days to try and get through that unfortunate what happened in the nets”. It will be a huge sigh of relief for many fans to see the Hitman back in action against RCB which is set to feature some huge names including Virat Kohli.

Mumbai Indians’ coach was also asked if Rohit will play as an impact player to which he said “I mean this is, the impact and regular there's not much of a change, it's a regular, it's just we're taking a guy out and bringing a guy in so we're technically playing it 12 so you shouldn't read too much into it”
