LSG posted a short clip on social media where Rohit could be heard saying, “Sir, why sorry when you have lord?” With two overs left to play, MI needed just 29 runs to win the game. Shardul Thakur bowled the 19th over of the game and gave away just seven runs to put more pressure on the opposition batters. Rohit Sharma had missed the game as he was hit on his knees in the nets.

Shardul Thakur was asked his opinion about bowling the penultimate over of the game by the host broadcasters. The 33-year-old said, “There is always pressure when you are bowling the penultimate or the last over; Avesh did a great job as well. But at the end of the day, you're paid to do that job. It was a tricky surface; sometimes you thought the slower ones would work but even a few slower ones were hit for boundaries; in the end it was the yorkers that worked.”

Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene calls for more ruthlessness

Five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians have a mountain to climb as the IPL 2025 season heads to the halfway mark. The Men in Blue and Gold have to beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday to be in touch with the top four spot in the table. Mahela Jayawardene has asked his team to show more ruthlessness after the loss to LSG on Friday.

The former Lankan legend, as quoted by CRICBUZZ, said, “I think it's early season so we need to be a bit more ruthless when we're in those kinds of situations to try and finish a game off. I think halfway point, even at the 14th over mark, I think we were in it, 12 balls, 14 balls out, we were par score with them. We had the game in control most of the time even after losing those two early wickets but it was just disappointing that we just couldn't finish it."

Jayawardene called the loss a ‘setback’ and said, “I have to be honest; it is a setback."We probably made quite a few mistakes especially with the ball as well, we should have probably restricted them maybe 15-20 runs less and at the same time batting-wise we had the momentum even after losing early wickets.”
