Former Pakistan cricket team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has stirred the cricketing world with his recent comments on the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. The controversy began when Inzamam accused the Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh of "ball tampering" during the T20 World Cup 2024, following India’s victory over Australia in the Super 8 stage.
In a provocative statement on 24 News, Inzamam addressed Rohit Sharma's dismissal of his claims, saying, "Dimag to hum zarur apna khole lenge (We will open our mind)." Inzamam interpreted Rohit's remarks as an indirect admission that reverse swing was indeed happening, thus validating his initial observations. He further criticized Rohit, stating, "First thing is that he (Rohit) has admitted that it’s happening. So it means what we observed is correct."

Inzamam didn’t stop there. He challenged Rohit's understanding of reverse swing, highlighting Pakistan's historical expertise in this bowling technique. "Second thing, Rohit Sharma ko humein batane ki zarurat nahi padni chahiye ke reverse swing kis tarah hota hai, kitni dhoop mei hota hai, kis pitch pe hota hai”, he further added.

“Jo sikhane wale hain unko nahi yeh cheez sikhaya karte (There is no need for Rohit to tell us how reverse swing happens, under how much sun, on what pitch; you don’t teach something to someone who taught it to the world)," Inzamam asserted.
What had Rohit Sharma said?
Earlier, Inzamam had suggested that Arshdeep’s ability to achieve reverse swing was due to some "serious work on the ball." In response to these allegations, Rohit Sharma firmly dismissed Inzamam's claims, urging critics to "open their minds" and avoid jumping to conclusions without substantial evidence.
Rohit's response highlighted his frustration with the ongoing accusations and aimed to put an end to the controversy. Inzamam's remarks have certainly added fuel to the fire, bringing the age-old cricket rivalry between India and Pakistan back into the spotlight.
