Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq's statement has sparked controversy among the Indian cricketers and critics. After Rohit Sharma, former India batter Virender Sehwag has come forward to answer the former skipper's accusation of India's tampering with the ball in the match against Australia in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Sehwag also said that Sharma shouldn't have answered the reporter's question.

"I have a problem with one thing. Someone has given a statement, even if I say something… It is not the job of a reporter to quote someone and ask others for their opinion. This is wrong. You don't have a question of your own? You want an answer to someone else's statement. You're trying to create controversy. If I were there, I wouldn't have replied at all," said Sehwag while talking to Cricbuzz.

During the 15th over of the match, Arshdeep Singh's ball started swinging due to the weather. However, Inzamam-ul-Haq went to accuse India of tampering with the ball after the game was done. India won the match by 24 runs against Australia, which knocked the Aussies out of the tournament.

You have to understand where we are playing: Rohit Sharma

On former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq's accusation, Rohit Sharma very casually said that before commenting, people should see where the game is being played and how it's been played. The weather conditions favoured the bowlers and hence the ball started to swing.

"What answer will I give? If you are playing under the sun and the wickets are this dry, the ball will reverse on its own. The ball is reversing for all teams. Not just for us. Sometimes, it's important to open your mind (use your brain). You have to understand where we are playing. We are not playing in England or Australia," Rohit was quoted as saying by India Today.
