The fans of Bengaluru will return home disappointed as Day 1 of the 1st Test match between India and New Zealand has been called off due to continuous rain at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The players had reached the ground for some action but the play was eventually abandoned. The fans seemed quite enthusiastic as they waited for their favourite players to take the field.

Bengaluru is facing an Orange alert due to the cyclone in Chennai, which is why there has been continuous rain in the region. Since it's the first match of the series, BCCI didn't plan to swap the venues to some other location. Moreover, Bengaluru is hosting a Test match after 2.5 years, so the fans were super excited to watch the Indian team in white.

Virat Kohli and many other players were seen going to the indoor practice sessions where fans went crazy after watching them. The expectation of having a game on the 2nd day might be high, but the Bengaluru weather has some different plans altogether.

Kane Williamson misses 1st Test match due to injury

The New Zealand Cricket Board has made it official that Kane Williamson will miss the 1st Test match against India due to an injury. He suffered an injury during the Sri Lanka series and now isn't fit to play against India. However, his recovery is expected within the next few days and hence, will join the playing XI from the 2nd Test match.

After Tim Southee resigned from captaincy, Tom Latham has been handed over the responsibility of the team. He is a brilliant batter and has the potential to lead the team. This is an important series and playing India in their home ground is the most challenging thing ever. Hence, he'll have to come up with some solid plans to beat India in the Test series.
