Just another day in Florida and another game of the T20 World Cup 2024 ended up getting washed out. After yesterday’s USA vs Ireland ‘washed out game’, this time it was India vs Canada, the 33rd match of the tournament that got abandoned without any result at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida.

With this game abandoned without any result, both India and Canada shared one point each; now India are in the top spot in the Group A points table of the tournament. The men in blue won three matches out of the 4 matches they played in the group stage of the tournament.

Rohit Sharma’s men were also the first team to make it to the super-8 stage of the tournament with three successive wins against Ireland, Pakistan, and USA respectively. Following India, the co-hosts USA were the second team to qualify for the super-8 stage of the tournament. USA’s slot was confirmed after their game against Ireland washed out at the same venue where the India vs Canada game was expected to be played.

The teams to get eliminated from Group A have been the last edition’s finalists, Pakistan, alongside Canada and Ireland.

Speaking of the other groups, Australia have qualified for the super-8 stage of the tournament from Group B. Now, the fight to be the second team from the Group B for super-8 qualification is between Scotland and Canada. The picture will be clear after the game between Australia and Scotland, which will decide the fate of England’s qualification for the super-8 stage of the tournament.

Furthermore, Afghanistan and West Indies are the two teams from Group C to qualify for the super-8 stage of the current edition of the tournament, having 3 successive wins each. Talking about Group D, South Africa have qualified for the super-8 stage with 4 successive wins in the group stage of the tournament.

Subsequently, the race for the second spot from Group D is between the Netherlands and Bangladesh.
