The England-India Test series has been renamed, and legendary England fast bowler James Anderson is loving it. Instead of the customary Pataudi Trophy, the names of James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar are allegedly being used for the next bilateral series. Although neither the England and Wales Cricket Board nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed the development, Anderson responded to the claims by saying that it was an enormous honour for him to have his name linked to the renowned Sachin Tendulkar.
"It's a huge honour," Anderson told ESPNcricinfo in an interview. "I still can't quite believe it. Sachin is someone I looked up to when I was growing up, though I don't want to do him a disservice with his age. I remember watching him, an absolute legend of the game, and I played against him a lot as well. "So to have this trophy is a huge honour for me, and I couldn't be more proud," James Anderson said.

Since its inception in 2007, the Pataudi Trophy has been given for the bilateral Test series played in England, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the first Test match between India and England. The Pataudi family, which produced two Indian captains, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, better known as Tiger Pataudi, is the reason it was given this name.

Test series honours James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar
The Pataudi Trophy name will not be used for this series, though. Instead, the newly created Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, which honours cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson, will be up for grabs. Tendulkar, who participated in 200 Test matches from 1989 to 2013, still holds the record for most runs scored in Test cricket history (15,921). Anderson has taken 704 wickets, making him the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket and England's all-time top wicket-taker.
Currently, James Anderson has been a bowling consultant for English cricket since he retired from international cricket last summer. He just signed a contract extension to continue playing county cricket for Lancashire. In 14 Test matches between the two greats, Anderson had the upper hand on Sachin Tendulkar. He got the wicket of Tendulkar nine times.
