England's legendary fast bowler James Anderson announced his retirement from Test cricket in July 2024. His last Test match for England came against the West Indies, in which he took a five-wicket haul. After one year of hanging up his boots in cricket, he has made a strong comeback in the County Championship. During the game against Derbyshire, the 42-year-old James Anderson claimed two wickets after his team, Lancashire, posted a total of 458 runs.

Again in the ninth over of the match, Anderson was given the ball and he got rid of David Lloyd. Llyod scored 27 runs and helped Derbyshire to reach the 50-run mark. Before calling out for Stumps, James Anderson bowled five overs in which he gave 24 runs and picked up two wickets. He received a standing ovation from the fans for his bowling spell.

James Anderson working with England Cricket Board
After taking retirement from Test cricket, James Anderson signed a one-year deal with Lancashire, but a calf injury kept him away from playing five games. Over the years, James Anderson has been one of the most valuable players for England in Test cricket. The right-arm pacer has picked 704 wickets in 188.
Apart from this, James Anderson also works with the England Cricket Board as a bowling consultant. Since last year, Anderson has been seen in the England camp and is likely to work with Tim Southee, who also joined the team as bowling consultant. Ahead of the four-match Test series against the duo can help players in bowling.
