James Anderson did not take much time to regain his old form. Given the new ball in the hand, Anderson removed Caleb Jewell, the opener for Derbyshire. Caleb Jewell looked clueless when Anderson was bowling from around the wicket towards him. Jewell failed to block the ball as it hit the top of the stump, and the pacer got his first wicket. James Anderson dismissed him on 16 runs from 14 balls. Before losing his wicket, he smashed four boundaries and helped the team get a good start.

Before calling out for Stumps, James Anderson bowled five overs in which he gave 24 runs and picked up two wickets. He received a standing ovation from the fans for his bowling spell.
