Indian seamer Harshit Rana marked his debut in the ICC tournament with three wickets against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy 2025. The 23-year-old pacer was included in the side ahead of Arshdeep Singh, which surprised many experts and fans alike. Harshit Rana, though, silenced the critics with his spell of 3/31 from 7.3 overs as Bangladesh were all out for 228.
Rana gave Bangladeshi cricketer Rishad Hossain a cheeky send-off after dismissing the batter for 18. Hossain holed out to Hardik Pandya and the cameras caught Rana twirling his fingers and looking at the batter. Hossain had hit two huge sixes and a single boundary to help his team gain momentum in the final few overs of the game.

Harshit Rana’s old fight with Soumya Sarkar resurfaces
This is not the first time Indian pace bowler Harshit Rana has had a run-in with a Bangladeshi player. Teams from India and Bangladesh had met each other in the 2023 Emerging Asia Cup match. It was a heated encounter as both sides were seen getting aggressive on the field.
Harshit Rana had some unfinished business with Soumya Sarkar, and I was expecting a good battle but Soumya decided to make it a short story, gone in the first over!

Soumya Sarkar, who opened the batting, was dismissed when Nikin Jose took an amazing catch. Once the batter was given out, Rana could be seen giving Sarkar a massive send-off. This did not sit down well with the batter as the umpires intervened. The bowler had to be restrained before things got out of hand
Gujarat Titans player Sai Sudharsan had to play the peacemaker and urge the batter to leave the field. Rana was also given a one-match ban in IPL 2024 after his flying kiss send-off to Mayank Agarwal. The fiery pacer has been known to have an aggressive attitude on the field, which has been visible in his short international career.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami picked 5/53 for India as Bangladesh were all out for 228 in the Champions Trophy clash with two balls left in the final over. Towhid Hridoy was the best batter for his side as the 24-year-old scored his maiden ODI ton. Hridoy was out after scoring 100 to become Rana’s third wicket of the day.
