The former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is set to feature in the Champions One Day Cup 2024. The 29-year-old will be playing for the Stallions side which is set to be led by Mohammad Haris and mentored by former skipper Shoaib Malik.

During the training recently, one young fan jumped the barricade with the hope of meeting Babar Azam. The security was quick in spotting the invader and dashed the youngster. At that time the Stallions were involved in some football drills and the crowd began to chant Haris Rauf's name.

Haris Rauf who was part of the training drills spotted the youngster. The Pakistan pacer ensured the security was kept away as he guided the youngster to the stands. There was a massive crowd which had come to watch the training session and the young man was cheered by the fans.

Pakistani coaches decide the future of Pakistan captains?

According to reports carried by PTI, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie have sought more time for Pakistani captains. Shan Masood is the captain of the Test side while Babar Azam is the captain of the T20I side. Curiously there is no captain yet named for the ODI team.

Shaheen Afridi was the T20I captain at the start of the year before Babar Azam was given the job once more. Pakistan endured a miserable T20 World Cup as they failed to make it past the first round. Losses to the USA and India followed by a win over Canada saw Babar Azam’s team make an early exit.

A source in PCB while speaking to PTI was quoted as saying, “There has been no discussion on changing the captains as the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has left it up to the two coaches and selectors to decide on the captaincy. And Kirsten and Gillespie are very clear that Shan and Babar both need to be given a proper run before judging their leadership abilities.”

Pakistan has been under tremendous pressure in the last few weeks. The men in green have lost their first-ever series at home to Bangladesh. The 2-0 series loss also saw Shan Masood the Test skipper come in the line of fire. There were also rumours of players infighting within the Pakistani camp.

The next series for Pakistan is at home to England where they will play three Test matches. Ben Stokes and his side will come into the series with huge confidence having won the series with a 3-0 margin the last time they toured in 2022.
