Amid sacking rumours, fans in Pakistan gathered near the team bus to cheer for white-ball skipper Babar Azam. He's one of the best batters in Pakistan but has been going through a lean patch as he hasn't scored a half-century for a long time now. Reports surfaced on the internet, stating that he would be sacked from captaincy due to his failed performance and the team's failure in recent series.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to host the upcoming domestic List-A tournament, the Champions One Day Cup, where all the players will come together to play against each other. During one practice session for the Stallions, fans were seen cheering for their captain, which was a heartwarming gesture.

Stallions will face the Lions at Faisalabad on the opening day of the tournament starting on September 13. Moreover, the tournament will be played within five teams, and the Board has announced the squads and the captains. Mohammad Haris is given the captaincy of Stallions, where Babar Azam will play under him. The other four skippers are Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Babar Azam's captaincy at stake

Rumours have it that the Board is set to sack the white-ball captain Babar Azam for his miserable performance in the ODI and T20 World Cup 2024. The Board hasn't made anything official yet but it's the talk of the town. Even in the Champions One Day Cup, Babar wasn't given the chance to captain the Stallions; rather, Mohammad Haris will captain the side.

Babar returned to captaincy before the T20I World Cup, but it didn't make much difference as they had an early exit from the tournament. Thus, the Board is looking for some better player who can manage the world load of the team without dripping their own performance.
