The 7th game of the Champions One-Day Cup saw the Stallions beat the Dolphins by 174 runs. Haris Rauf bowled with pace and bounce to take two wickets for 28 runs from his 4 overs. The Pakistani pacer was left in splits after he dismissed Qasim Akram for 4 runs from 2 balls.

Qasim Akram got a short ball from Rauf that he tried to slash over the third man for a four. Abrar Ahmed running towards the ball took a one-handed catch and then fell on the floor. Seeing such antics, Haris Rauf began to laugh as Abrar Ahmed was flanked by his teammates for making an amazing catch.

Earlier in the day Babar Azam scored a masterful century to help Stallions reach 271. In reply, the Dolphins were bowled out for just 97 runs with Shahibzada Farhan top-scoring with 32 runs.

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s comments fire up Babar Azam

Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed decided to take a subtle dig at Babar Azam during the game on Thursday. The veteran star was heard saying “No hurry, no hurry! Let the crowd keep chanting for Babar. We will  make him play 40 overs, and dismiss the other batters”

The taunt came back to bite the Dolphins as the Pakistani batting star went after the bowlers. Babar Azam scored 104 not out from 100 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Yasir Khan scored 46 off 58 balls while fellow opener Shan Masood was out for 34.

It was a welcome sight for many fans as Babar Azam was struggling for runs. The 29-year-old hasn’t scored an international fifty for a long time. This has raised questions about his future as the captain of the T20I side. Many former players are calling the PCB to strip Babar Azam’s captaincy to let him focus on his batting.

In the three games that Babar Azam has played so far in the Champions One-Day Cup, he has scored 225 runs. The right-handed batter has an average of 112.50 with one century and one fifty. England cricket team which is set to tour Pakistan next will have their eyes on the wily Pakistani batter’s form.
