Babar Azam comes up with religious tweet amid poor form

Amid the ongoing backlash Babar Azam received after recurring failed performances in the international set-up, Pakistan's white-ball skipper has come forward and made a religious tweet on social media, which went viral within seconds of uploading. One positive thing about Babar's current life is the kind of support he's been getting from his fans during this lean time. 

It's been more than a year since he performed in international cricket, and this has become a topic of discussion for the former players. Babar has received a lot of criticism regarding his performance primarily because he's the skipper and has to take up the responsibility of the team.

In 22 matches across formats, Babar has scored just 773 runs. This is the worst performance since the start of his career in 2015. His average was 39.9 in 2023 but now has dropped down to 34. Moreover, he hasn't scored a half-century in a long time, which is even more challenging for him. Hence, the criticisms don't stop, adding more pressure on the player.

The entire cricket world was shocked after Babar Azam got back his captaincy. He was sacked from the captaincy position due to poor performance and early exit from the ODI World Cup 2023. But he regained his position back before the T20 World Cup 2024 in the hope of not repeating the same mistakes. Cricketer Imad Wasim spoke about Babar's captaincy stint and said that the entire team was shocked when the news came out. Nobody expected him to become the skipper, but since it was the selectors' decision, nobody interrupted it. 

Yes, I was surprised. But what can I say? It's ultimately the selector's call. Whatever they thought was the best option, (based on that) they picked the team, and they picked the captain. Not just me, everybody was surprised, to be honest. Everyone in Pakistan as well," said Imad, speaking on the PakPassion YouTube channel.
