Indian star Hardik Pandya joined in the fun of putting Bangladeshi bowlers to the cleaners on Saturday. The 31-year-old helped himself to a late birthday present as he smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes off Tanzim Hasan’s over en route to his 47 off 18 balls.

The 31-year-old began the over with a boundary towards the square leg region. This was followed by a full toss as Pandya smashed it for a six towards the same square leg region. The next ball was smashed over extra cover as Pandya used his powerful forearms to hit it for yet another six.

India scored 297 runs for the loss of 6 wickets from their 20 overs. This is the highest total by any Test-playing nation in the T20I format. Had it not been for India losing two wickets off two balls, they would have become the first Test-playing nation to score 300 runs.

Bangladeshi bowlers were annihilated by Indian batters

It was a brilliant day in the park for Indian batters who seemed to walk into the park with aggressive intent. After the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma, it was the Samson and SKY show. Both the batters went after the Bangladeshi bowlers and brought up the 150 mark in just 10 overs.

The highlight of the day was the five sixes in five balls hit by Sanju Samson off Rishad Hossain. Suryakumar Yadav too went after the visiting bowlers as he played the perfect second fiddle to his younger partner.

India lost both their set batters in the space of five balls with the score reading 206/3. That’s when Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya started to dazzle the crowd with their no-holds-barred approach with the bat. Nitish Kumar Reddy playing his first game in front of his home fans was out for a golden duck.

Mayank Yadav struck with his very first ball by dismissing Parvez Hossain Emon for a 1st ball duck. At the time of writing, Bangladesh were placed on 28/1 in the third over with Shanto batting on 9 and Tanzid Hasan on 14.
