Team India are set to come to Wankhede Stadium in front of a massive crowd. Hardik Pandya who is the Mumbai Indians skipper was given a huge cheer by the fans present at the ground. The incident happened when the Indian all-rounder was shown on the giant screen. This is a 180-degree turn for the 30-year-old star who was just being booed two months ago.

Many fans directed their ire at Hardik Pandya after he was given the Mumbai Indians captaincy. This was coupled with the fact that Mumbai Indians had a terrible season where they finished 10th in the table. The decision to do away with Rohit Sharma as the captain was met with huge negativity in the fanbase.

Hardik Pandya was the player who bowled the final over of the T20 World Cup. The 30-year-old began by dismissing David Miller who was splendidly caught by Suryakumar Yadav. In the end, just 8 runs came from the over as India held on to win the game by 7 runs.

Team India given a massive welcome by a capacity crowd

Rohit Sharma and his Indian side were in the open bus victory parade. Many fans braved the inclement weather as they were waiting in Marine Drive to catch a glimpse of the men in blue.

Wankhede Stadium is packed to the rafters as the Mumbai Cricket Association announced free entry earlier in the day. The team had earlier in the day met Indian PM Narendra Modi to celebrate the T20 World Cup title win.

Former South African star AB De Villiers meanwhile has silenced Hardik Pandya’s critics. The 40-year-old while speaking on his YouTube channel said “What stands out for me are the big moments. A guy like Hardik Pandya who's been through a roller-coaster himself with Mumbai Indians – moving from Gujarat to Mumbai – and all the criticism he coped with, getting the ball from the captain in the final of the T20 World Cup. That was his moment to go like, 'You know what… all Indian fans out there, this is what I am about as a cricket player”

AB De Villiers ended by saying “He made everyone proud out there. Even though I did not want him to succeed like that, I look back and have a lot of respect for him. He is a big man for a big moment and that's exactly the way he played. To all you Mumbai Indians fan out there who doubted him, I'm pretty sure he has secured a spot in your hearts for the future”
