Speaking at the end of the game, Gardner said “Very pleased, we weren't very far away in the other game. To play this brand of cricket and winning today's game at home feels special. Our bowlers did a great job and someone like Priya Mishra taking 3 wickets in just her second WPL game was brilliant”

Massive game for Giants against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday

The next game for Gujarat Giants will be against season one champions Mumbai Indians on Tuesday at the Kotambi Stadium. Harmanpreet Kaur and her side began the season with a close loss to Delhi Capitals. The match was marred by controversy regarding a run-out in the final few stages of the game.

Mumbai were bowled out for 164 in the 20th over against Delhi, with Nat Sciver Brunt top-scoring with 80. Skipper Kaur scored 42 off 22 balls while Yastika Bhatia scored 11 runs none of the other batters managed to cross double figures with the bat. Harmanpreet Kaur asked her team to bat more sensibly ahead of the next match on Tuesday.

Harmanpreet Kaur said at the end of the game “First thing is we want to play 20 overs. We have to bat the full 20 overs. And the set batter should bat 20 overs. When I was in, I should have continued longer. This type of collapse happens but our batters need to take more responsibility in the next game”
