Star Delhi Capitals Women opener Shafali Verma showed her amazing batting prowess against Mumbai Indians Women in the ongoing second game of the WPL 2024. She started her power-hitting just from the second over of the Delhi Capitals’ innings. The star batter took charge against MI-W’s Saika Ishaque and produced an amazing and productive over for her side.

Verma smashed 22 runs off Ishaque’s over, smashing a massive six on the second ball of the over followed by four successive fours in the next four balls.

Before getting dismissed by Hayley Matthews in the sixth over of the second innings, the blistering DC opener Verma had played her part, smashing 43 runs off just 18 balls, with seven fours and two sixes. she also stitched a fiery opening partnership of 60 runs for the first wicket with skipper Meg Lanning in just 5.5 overs.

Speaking of the current action of the match, Delhi Capitals Women had scored 144 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 18 overs while chasing the target of 165 runs. They now require 21 runs off 13 balls to win the game, with Niki Prasad and Shikha Pandey, scoring 25 and 2 runs, respectively. 
Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr have scalped 2 wickets each for MI-W in the second innings, alongside a wicket each bagged by Shabnim Ismail and Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Earlier in the first innings, Mumbai Indians managed to post a total of 164 runs, losing all their wickets in 19.1 overs. Star number three batter Nat Sciver Brunt played a crucial knock of 80 runs off just 59 balls, with 13 fours followed by Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s blistering 42 runs off just 22 balls, with four fours and three sixes.

Annabel Sutherland scalped 3 wickets for DC-W in the first innings, alongside 2 wickets claimed by Shikha Pandey. Besides these two, Alice Capsey and Minnu Mani also picked a wicket each.
