Team India gave new coach Gautam Gambhir a great start with a series win over Sri Lanka. It was a ruthless performance by the men in blue as they had won the game by seven wickets with 9 balls to spare. It was also a great way to start for new T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

Once the winning runs were hit and the series were sealed the Indian side was seen shaking hands with Sri Lanka. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir were having a serious chat about something before the camera zoomed away to the other players.

Sri Lanka having asked to bat first scored 161 for the loss of nine wickets from their 20 overs. India set a target of 78 to win from 8 overs which they did with ease thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav’s cameos with the bat.

Suryakumar excited after series win

India’s full-time T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav was excited after winning his first series after the win against Sri Lanka. Speaking to BCCI’s official X handle, the 33-year-old said "I... I don't want to be a captain; I want to be a leader. That's it. It felt good to see such good support here and in this country."

Suryakumar Yadav also praised Riyan Parag for the talents the 22-year-old has while speaking to BCCI. “This Riyan Parag can be special because I have seen him bowl in the IPL as well as in the nets. And I also said on the PC that he has an X-factor.”

Speaking at the end of the game, India’s skipper had said, “We spoke about this before this tournament - what brand of cricket we want to play. Even if it's a shorter target or whatever target we are chasing, this is the template which we would like to go ahead with."

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka said, “I am really disappointed with the way we batted at the death and about our middle order and lower middle order including me. We must really improve in our batting. On this pitch, when the ball gets older, it gets really hard to bat. As professional cricketers, we have to do well. We were behind by 15-18 runs. Unfortunately, the weather also played something, we can't control that. It's easy when it comes to an 8-over game with a wet outfield.”
