Rohit has shown good intent with the bat in his batting performances in the tournament so far while opening the innings for his side. Sharma has played the knocks of 41 and 20 runs, respectively in the first two league matches of the Indian team in the ongoing prestigious cricket quadrennial.
Speaking of Team India, they are currently placed in the second spot on the Group A points table. The 2013 champions have 4 points to their name and will face the table-toppers New Zealand in their third and last league match in the tournament’s current edition.
Interestingly, India have made it to the Champions Trophy semi-finals for the third consecutive time since 2013, when they won the title under the captaincy of the former legendary skipper MS Dhoni, beating the hosts England in the tournament’s summit clash. They will now aim to win the title and their 12-year-long wait for the Champions Trophy title.
Earlier in the last edition of the tournament in 2017, Virat Kohli’s India lost by a massive 180-run margin against Pakistan in the tournament’s Final.
