Team India recently suffered a humiliating defeat to Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series. It was the Men in Blue’s first-ever loss to the Island nation in the 50-over format since 1997. They bottled a 230-run chase in the series opener and lost the subsequent two matches despite the presence of senior players.

This was India's last ODI series of 2024. India will play their next ODI in 2025 when they host England for a three-match series from February 6 to 12. This is their last and only ODI series before the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will probably kick off on February 19.

Rohit Sharma and Co. ended their 11-year trophy drought in June by winning the T20 World Cup. However, they are aiming to add one in the ODI format next year to make up for the 2023 World Cup heartbreak.

Meanwhile, a fan reminded captain Rohit and Shreyas Iyer of the same thing at the airport and they both burst out laughing. A middle-aged man while taking a selfie video with the two senior cricketers asked them to win the upcoming ICC tournament.

“Sir abhi Champions Trophy jeetna hai bas Champions Trophy,” fans said. "Sir Champions Trophy," Shreyas responded with a laugh.

India unlikely to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025

India were the champions of the 2013 Champions Trophy. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, they defeated England by five runs in a thrilling final at Edgbaston, Birmingham. However, in the last edition in 2017, the Men in Blue lost to arch-rivals Pakistan in the final.

The upcoming edition of the marquee event will be held in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the BCCI has confirmed that India will not travel to its neighbouring country and has requested the ICC to host the event in Hybrid. Discussions on the same are in progress and a final verdict is expected soon from the governing body of cricket.
