Punjab Kings (PBKS) put into bat first scored a massive 206 on the board in their IPL 2025 game against Delhi Capitals (DC). Skipper Faf du Plessis came out to bat with KL Rahul and the veteran South African batter was in a mood to give his team a morale-boosting finish to the season. In the first ball of the fourth over, Azmatullah Omarzai bowled a short ball to du Plessis.
The veteran batter seemed to be ready for the ball as he pulled the ball deep into the stands. Du Plessis had come into the game on the back of some low-scoring including his failure in the previous game. DC had lost to MI in the previous game by 59 runs to be knocked out of the IPL 2025 playoff race.
Earlier in the day, Shreyas Iyer’s 34-ball 53 helped set the base for PBKS to cross the 200-run mark. Veteran all-rounder Marcus Stoinis then used his long handle to score brisk 44 not-out which came off just 18 balls. Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s three wickets for 33 runs was the best bowling figures for Delhi Capitals.

Arshdeep Singh bowled the first over of the chase and gave away just runs which included a boundary in the last ball of the over. After two overs, DC had managed to score just 12 runs without losing a wicket. KL Rahul, then hit Arshdeep for two successive boundaries to end the third over.
Azmatullah Omarzai’s first over saw 15 runs being scored as DC batters finally began to find some momentum. Harpreet Brar’s first over saw 13 runs being with KL Rahul using his feet to slam the ball straight over the bowler’s as DC reached their fifty after five overs.
Marco Jansen got PBKS their first wicket when the South African pacer got the wicket of KL Rahul for 35 caught by Shashank Singh. Karun Nair, got off the mark with a stylish six to celebrate his call-up to the Indian Test side. Faf du Plessis was second man out caught by Priyansh Arya off Harpreet Brar for 23 runs off 15 balls.
