England Test skipper Ben Stokes was carried off the field during the Hundred game on Sunday. The 33-year-old has injured his hamstring and is now a huge doubt for the three-match Test series to be played against Sri Lanka. The first test is set to be played on the 21st of August in Manchester.

The incident took place in the 11th ball of the chase with the Northern Superchargers chasing the 153-run target set by Manchester Originals. Ben Stokes could be seen in discomfort after playing a ball from Tom Aspinwall.

A few deliveries later, Ben Stokes could be seen in agony and anger as he began to hold his left knee. The incident happened as he hurried to complete a quick single as Ollie Robinson ran for a quick leg-bye. The medical team came out onto the field and immediately helped carry Ben Stokes off the field.

Speaking at the end of the game, Harry Brook who is the captain of the Superchargers side said, “It doesn't look great, unfortunately. I think he'll be getting a scan tomorrow and we'll see how he is." An official statement from the Superchargers came out after the game ended which said, “Ben Stokes is having his hamstring assessed. Further updates will be available from Monday.”

Northern Superchargers coast home to easy win

Batting first Manchester Originals scored 152/7 from their stipulated 100 balls. Captain Phil Salt led the charge with the bat as he scored 61 runs from 28 balls with 5 fours and 4 huge sixes.

Fazalhaq Farooqi got the wicket of Matthew Short for 1, while Ollie Robinson fell for 12 to leave the visitors at 29/2 after 36 balls. Harry Brook and Nicholas Pooran then joined forces as the pair added 56 runs in just 32 balls.

Harry Brook was out for 43 off 26 balls while Pooran scored an unbeaten 66 off 33 balls with 2 fours and 8 sixes. Northern Superchargers won the game by 7 wickets with three balls to spare to storm to the third spot in the table.
