The ‘eye of the sky’ witnessed one of the most iconic historic matches of all time in the history of the Indian Premier League 2024. In the ‘Southern Derby’, RCB and CSK locked horns in the virtual quarter-final to qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament.

After RCB’s first-innings total of 218 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, the match was like a roller coaster in the second innings but finally, it was RCB who held the nerves and registered a decisive win by 27 runs to enter playoffs of the ongoing IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, the veteran RCB wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik also spoke about the role of former CSK skipper and batting stalwart MS Dhoni in RCB’s win in this match.

Karthik mentioned about Dhoni’s ‘out of the stadium’ six on the first ball of the last over which attracted a lot of eyeballs. Furthermore, the former RCB skipper and the batting great, Virat Kohli also responded to Karthik’s claims during this dressing room interaction.

“MS Dhoni hitting that 110M six outside the Chinnaswamy was the best thing that happened, it gave us a new ball which helped us,” said Karthik in a video shared by RCB from their official X handle (formerly Twitter).

Here’s a look at the video in which Dinesh Karthik spoke about MS Dhoni’s six:

Later, Virat Kohli echoed Karthik’s comment and accepted the fact that the new ball after Dhoni’s ‘out of the park’ six played a massive role in RCB’s favour. It was all because the old ball was quite wet because of the due factor but the new ball which was introduced after Dhoni’s ‘six’ provided good control and grip for Yash Dayal to come up with Dhoni’s wicket on the very next ball after the latter’s massive six.

With the 27-run win over CSK, RCB became the fourth team to enter the playoffs after RR, KKR, and SRH.
