The 68th league match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 was truly a display of a thrilling and iconic ‘match for the ages’ in the history of the Indian Premier League. The hosts RCB who were coming off the initial 7 consecutive defeats at the beginning of the tournament, had all eyes on them if they would make it to the playoffs or not.

The intensity of this thrilling 27-run win against CSK was so high that it drove the former RCB skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli emotional; the great batter broke into tears during the post-win celebrations after Yash Dayal managed to beat the star CSK all-rounder on two consecutive deliveries on the last two balls of the 20th over in the second innings.

Speaking of the match, CSK was given the target of 219 runs by RCB, after the latter scored 218 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The cut-off score for CSK’s playoff qualification was only 201 runs as they needed to defy the margin of an 18-run loss against RCB for playoff qualification.

RCB’s star pacer Yash Dayal successfully defended the cut-off score in the last over as he conceded only 7 runs in the last over, including a big wicket of the ‘danger man’ MS Dhoni followed by beating Jadeja on the last two balls to take RCB to the playoffs.
