Match number 28 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was the first game played in Jaipur. Hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR) took on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday. RR ended with 173 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets from their 20 overs. Dhruv Jurel, who has made an amazing start to his IPL 2025 season, scored an unbeaten 35 off 22 balls with two boundaries and two sixes.

It was Rajat Patidar who won the toss and chose to bowl first and went in with an unchanged side. The hosts made one change to their side as Wanindu Hasaranga came in for Fazalhaq Farooqi. So far RCB have won all their away games but came into the contest on the back of their home loss to Delhi Capitals.

Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal began cautiously on a wicket which looked difficult to score runs off. Samson scored 15 runs off 19 balls and lost his wicket to Krunal Pandya, stumped by Jitesh Sharma while trying to charge the bowler. Yashasvi Jaiswal, on the other hand, was at his best playing some delightful shots.

Riyan Parag came out to bat at the fall of Samson’s wicket and added 56 runs for the second. The stand came in 39 balls, with Parag scoring 30 runs from 22 balls with three boundaries and a six. That stand was broken when Yash Dayal had Parag caught by Virat Kohli on the second ball of the 14th over.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal batted well and got to his second half-century of the season. Jaiswal was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood after the batter had scored 75 runs off just 47 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and two sixes. Dhruv Jurel then came out to bat with intent and scored runs at a quick pace to help his team finish the innings on a high.

Speaking at the mid-innings break, Jaiswal said to the host broadcasters, “ It was good; I was trying to assess the conditions. I was trying to build a partnership so that we can score at least 170. I was trying to give the base to the other batsmen and was trying to get a good start for my team. I was enjoying there. It's a pretty good score for us, the wicket is a little bit two-paced. If we bowl well, it'll be a very good game.”
