There was a massive controversy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). In the fourth ball of the seventh over Riyan Parag tried to play a shot and the ball went into the hands of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. The umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger and send the batter back to the hut.

Just as the batter was walking back, Parag could be seen having a word with the umpire. It seemed as if Parag was trying to tell the umpire that the noise was perhaps from his boot. When the replays came on the screen, it was seen that there was a huge spike on the bat. Parag looked dejected as he made his way back to the dugout for 26 runs from 14 balls with the help of a four and three sixes.

Gujarat Titans were put into bat first and scored 217 runs on the board thanks to Sai Sudharsan who scored 82 runs. The left-handed batter scored his runs off 53 balls with eight fours and three sixes. Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan batted well to help the team get a huge total on the board.

Rajasthan Royals’ batters crumble under pressure

Chasing 218 to win, Rajasthan Royals lost their first two wickets early. Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring just six runs when he fell to Arshad Khan. The next wicket to fall was that of Nitish Rana who was out for one when he was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj caught by Kulwant Khejroliya.

Samson and Parag then came together as the pair added 48 runs in 26 balls before Parag was dismissed. Rashid Khan then got into the act when he got the wicket of Dhruv Jurel for five runs caught by Sai Sudharsan. At that stage RR were struggling at 68 for the loss of four wickets in the eighth over.

Shimron Hetmyer and Samson added 48 for the fifth wicket as the stand came up in 28 balls. Sanju Samson was out after scoring 41 runs when he was caught by Sai Kishore off Prasidh Krishna in the 13th over. It nearly ended the hopes for RR who were hoping that their skipper can help the team through to a win.
