The second Test in Trent Bridge ended late on the fourth day with England winning the game by 241 runs. Ben Stokes and his side have won the series after taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. West Indies on the other hand put in a shocking performance with the bat as they surrendered meekly without a fight.

There was a comical moment during the third day’s play while England were batting. The cameras spotted a spitting image of England skipper Ben Stokes sitting in the crowd. Ben Stokes spotted his spitting image and broke into a smile as James Anderson also could be seen breaking into a grin.

Earlier in the day Joe Root scored his 32nd Test ton as he was supported by fellow Yorkshire star Harry Brook who also scored a century. England started the day on 248/4 before being bowled out for 425 to give the visitors an improbable target of 385 runs to win the game.

Shoaib Bashir’s fifer hands England an easy win

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite shed his usual dour approach as he adopted a more attacking strategy to put England under pressure. The West Indian openers added 61 runs for the opening wicket in just 13 overs. Chris Woakes got the opening wicket as he dismissed Mikyle Louis for 13 and Shoaib Bashir then dismissed Kirk McKenzie for 1.

Kraigg Brathwaite then became the third wicket to fall when he was out to Woakes for 47. From there it was a free fall of wickets as Shoaib Bashir ran through the West Indian middle and lower order.

Jason Holder tried to fight back with 37 runs but he didn’t find any support from the other end. The win came when Shamar Joseph was bowled by Bashir for 8 to give the young spinner his 3rd career Test fifer and his best figures for England.

Speaking at the end of the game in Trent Bridge, Ben Stokes praised Shoaib Bashir. The England skipper said “"He has got so much talent and he's got an unbelievable desire to get better. His intent is to always take wickets and never just to hold an end up. It's really good for a young guy to put in a performance that wins England a Test. He was pretty emotional at the end. It's a pretty cool day for him. He has shown the world what he can do”
