After a grand victory against West Indies in the second Test match, England have now moved up to three places in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. Before this win, they were at the bottom of the table with three wins from 10 matches. Now, they are in the sixth position with five wins in 12 matches and a win percentage of 31.25. This victory of 241 runs against the Caribbean country helped them move up the order.
Now, West Indies have gone to the bottom of the table with one win out of six matches. It's now impossible for them to move up the order or qualify for the one-off WTC finals, to be conducted in the year 2025. Both teams haven't played the WTC finals yet in the two editions, and this time, England has 10 games to go where they can definitely win and qualify for the championship.
Their next assignment is a 3-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which will be on their home soil. That gives them the advantage to clean-sweep the series and move a few steps ahead in the points table. After the Sri Lanka series, they'll travel to Pakistan and New Zealand to play the Test series, which might be tricky.
