Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam hasn’t been in his greatest of forms with the bat. The 29-year-old is trying to find his rhythm with the bat ahead of the huge series against England. Babar Azam is set to take part in the Pakistan Champions Cup ODI tournament which starts in a few days.

Ahead of the tournament, there was a massive heartbreak for the legion of Babar Azam fans. On Tuesday, Babar Azam was taking part in a practice match where he was facing off against a local bowler by the name of Mohammad Asghar.

Babar Azam tried to improvise with a paddle shot against the left-arm spinner. The bowler had the last laugh as he dismantled the furniture of the senior batter. The crowd went quiet as Pakistan’s premier batter was headed back to the hut with yet another failure.

Babar Azam’s tough time with the bat

The last few months have been tough for Babar Azam with the bat. The 29-year-old was at the focal point of attention during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Babar Azam was a complete let-down as he scored just 64 runs from the four innings he was bating.

In the first Test, Babar Azam scored 0 and 22 with the duck being his first ever failure in Pakistani soil. The lack of runs from the blade of one of their best batters hurt the Pakistani side who lost the series 2-0. It is to be noted that Azam hasn’t scored a fifty across formats for the last 10 innings.

Pakistan had given Babar Azam the captaincy for the T20I World Cup. With the bat the 29-year-old off 122 runs from 4 matches with an average just under 41. The former T20 World Cup winners crashed out in the first round after losing their first two matches.

Pakistan Cricket Board have asked all their top names to make themselves available for the Champions Cup ODI trophy. The five-team tournament is set to begin on Friday with the Panther taking on Wolves. Stallions which has Babar Azam, Haris Rauf and many other big names will take on the Lions in their first game.
