Legends League Cricket 2024 saw Irfan Pathan’s Konark Suryas Odisha beat Manipal Tigers by 2 runs. The match went down to the wire as the Tigers needed 11 runs to win from the final over. Anureet Singh began by hitting the left-arm seamer for a huge six. 

The next ball saw a single being taken. Irfan Pathan then mixed his length to eke out a single off Obus Pienaar. The penultimate ball of the over saw Anureet Singh take a single to make it three runs needed off 1 ball. 

Irfan Pathan dropped the ball short as Pienaar looked for a huge hit. Ambati Rayudu timed his run well and took a smart catch. Konark Suryas Odisha won the game by 2 runs to begin the season with a huge win. 

A thrilling match kicks off Legends League 2024

Manipal Tigers skipper Harbhajan Singh won the toss and chose to bowl first. Anureet Singh dismissed Ambati Rayudu early for 8. Sheldon Cottrell then got the wicket of Richard Levi for 6 while Rahul Shukla got the wicket of Kevin O Brien. 

It was a tough wicket to bat on as the top scorer for the Odisha side was Irfan Pathan with 18. His knock came off 23 balls with the help of 2 fours. Brother Yusuf Pathan was out for 3, Dilshan Munaweera scored 11, and Ross Taylor hit 14 runs. 

Navin Stewart (17) and Vinay Kumar (11*) helped the team post 104 runs on the board. Obus Pienaar stole the show with the ball as he picked 2/10 from his 4 overs. Anureet Singh also picked 2 wickets while Harbhajan Singh got 1/11 from his 3 overs. 

In reply, the Tigers lost Robin Uthappa for a duck bowled out by Shahbaz Nadeem. Vinay Kumar then went through the defence of Solomon Mire also out for a duck. Former India batter Manoj Tiwary was out LBW for 2. Dilshan Munaweera then dismissed Saurabh Tiwary and Angelo Perera for 5 runs each. 

Daniel Christian (30) and Pienaar (34) tried to bring the Tigers back into the game. The two batters ran well between the wickets as they pressured the Odisha bowlers. Vinay Kumar broke the 49-run stand when he had Christian caught by Irfan Pathan to bring Odisha back into the game.
