Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batters couldn’t get going in the first six overs of their Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Thursday. Mumbai Indians (MI) bowled tight lines and lengths to keep both Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head quiet during the powerplay. On the very first ball of the game, Sharma gave Deepak Chahar the charge. The batter got a thick edge that flew to Will Jacks, who dropped an easy catch standing at the slip region.

Abhishek Sharma then decided to take matters into his own hands in the fifth over of the innings. The young batter who had scored 141 in the last game hit Deepak Chahar for three successive fours. The first boundary saw Sharma use his timing as the ball sped to the fence.

On the very next ball, Sharma charged down the track and hit Chahar over the off side for yet another boundary. Chahar bowled a short ball seeing the batter charge down the track but Sharma was ready for it and hit the ball over the extra cover region. Mumbai Indians had won the toss and chose to bowl first in a key encounter on Thursday.

The first over of the game bowled by Deepak Chahar produced just five runs. Trent Boult made an expensive start to his day giving away ten runs as he was hit by Head and Sharma for boundaries. Mumbai Indians’ fielders were sloppy as many chances weren’t taken and one such incident saw Karn Sharma walk off the field injured.

Jasprit Bumrah came into the attack and gave away just ten runs from his first two overs. At the end of the six overs, SRH were placed at 46 for no loss which is one of their lowest scores in the first six overs. In the second ball of the eighth over, Hardik Pandya was hit for a four and the MI skipper had to be tended due to a niggle.

Abhishek Sharma was then the first man out when he was caught well by Raj Angad Bawa. Sharma was out after scoring 40 runs from 28 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Will Jacks made up for his earlier drop when he had Ishan Kishan out stumped by Ryan Rickelton for two runs.
