Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their second game of IPL 2025 season as they beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by eight wickets. SRH achieved the second highest run-chase in IPL history when they easily went past the 246-runs set to win by PBKS with nine balls to spare. The star of the show was young Abhishek Sharma who hit 141 off just 55 balls with 14 fours and 10 huge sixes.ย
The left-handed batter took just 19 balls to get to his fifty and needed 21 more balls to reach his century. During the course of his knock, Abhishek also became the leading individual scorer for SRH going past the previous best of 126 by former skipper David Warner. This mark was reached with a six as Abhishek moved from 125 to 131.ย
The next record to fall was that of the highest ever score by an Indian batter in the IPL. KL Rahul held the record with his 132 runs that came during the IPL 2020 season in Dubai. Sharma, then hit a six to take his individual score to 137 and break the five-year-old record. In the end, Abhishek was out in the second ball of the 17th over when Arshdeep Singh had the batter caught by substitute fielder Praveen Dubey.ย

Yuzvendra Chahal who has been below par so far in this IPL broke the stand when Head was caught by Maxwell for 66 runs. The Australian batter scored his runs off 37 balls with nine boundaries and three sixes. With this win, SRH now have gone to eighth in the table with four points from six games. Mumbai Indians are ninth while Chennai Super Kings are bottom of the table.ย
Speaking at the end of the game to the broadcasters, Head said, โNot bad, nice to get on the winners list. Exceptional night, we needed it. We had our work cut out at the halfway point. We gave ourselves a chance, showed a bit more patience at the start. We knew the plans they were going to come with. Gave ourselves a bit more time and got off to a flier. We did the things we did really well last year and thatโs what made us such a good partnership.โ
