Abhishek Sharma, a batsman for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), achieved the fifth-fastest century in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, April 12, the left-handed batsman reached the milestone off 40 balls against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), led by Shreyas Iyer, in the IPL 2025 match.

To get a century, Abhishek Sharma smashed 11 fours and six sixes. He singled against Yuzvendra Chahal on the last ball of the 13th over. In the second over of the innings, the southpaw blasted four boundaries against Marco Jansen, kicking off his knock with a bang.

Within the first eight overs of the SRH innings, the two created a 100-run opening partnership. In just 19 balls, Abhishek scorched his way over fifty. As a result, Punjab Kings have seemed to be a complete mess on the pitch and with the ball, even if they have managed to defend a massive target of 246.

Abhishek Sharma's celebration after his century in the game against PBKS has amazed the crowd. The star batter removes his helmet and gloves and dedicated his century to the team, as the note read, 'This one is for the orange army.'

Hyderabad's openers needed to get off to a strong start. The performance of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharm was superior; they just dominated the PBKS bowlers and turned the tide entirely in their favor. The youthful Indian opener displayed his attitude and temperament. In addition, Abhishek's century was the second-fastest in IPL history for an SRH batsman.

Travis Head owns the record following his century off 39 balls against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium last year. All things considered, Chris Gayle holds the record for the fastest IPL century from 30-ball while playing for RCB. He scored the century against Pune Warriors in 2013.
