The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to send Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate along with new coach Gautam Gambhir for the tour of Sri Lanka. The board has decided to send the two names after Gautam Gambhir had requested for the two former KKR support staff members as per reports carried by CRICBUZZ.

T Dilip who has earned rave reviews for his services as the fielding coach has been retained. In-fact T Dilip is the only support staff member from the Rahul Dravid era who has been given retention.

One of the biggest sticking points is the fact that the board is yet to decide on a bowling coach. Gautam Gambhir had wanted Vinay Kumar as part of the support staff but the board had declined his request. According to reports, the Indian coach wants Morne Morkel as the bowling coach after the two worked with each other at Lucknow Super Giants.

Dinesh Karthik backs Gautam Gambhir to do well

Former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has shared the dressing room with Gautam Gambhir. The two have played alongside each other both for India and in the early part of IPL for the then Delhi Daredevils.

While speaking to CRICBUZZ, Dinesh Karthik said "First of all, when I played for Delhi Daredevils in the early years, it started with Sehwag being the captain, but year three it was Gautam Gambhir. He was a very good captain, tactically very astute and I was the vice-captain under him”

Dinesh Karthik also went onto say “He’s a very good leader. I think he will bring two things to the Indian team. One the fact that he is a complete players’ man. He protects his players and that’s very important in international cricket because you can feel lonely or deserted in international cricket when performances don’t go your way”

The former India star also added “So, Gambhir is going to do that, and number two, he'll definitely bring a clever tactical angle to this Indian team. Very fierce, intense guy and I always like playing for the team and did whatever it took to win a game of cricket,"
