The Sri Lanka team faced a crisis while leaving for the US before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Because two important players, Kusal Mendis and Asitha Fernando, have not yet received their visas to enter the United States for the marquee event, Sri Lanka's cricket squad is facing a last-minute obstacle.

"The US Embassy in Colombo has assured us that they will issue the visas as soon as possible and they have been very helpful in securing these visas in a very short period," Sri Lankan Sports Minister Harin Fernando as quoted by NewsWire.

Mendis and Fernando couldn't travel with the rest of the team because of their delayed visas, but the remainder of the team left this morning for New York via Dubai. The two cricket players are reportedly anticipating their visas from the US embassy in Colombo shortly and plan to visit the US as soon as they arrive. Although the delay won't have a major effect on their ability to compete in the World Cup, it might cause problems for their pre-tournament preparation regimen.
