It was the end of an era for Indian Cricket as Shikhar Dhawan decided to retire from international cricket on Saturday. The left-handed batter played for India for over 12 years with his final appearance coming in 2022 in Mirpur.

Shikhar Dhawan made his ODI debut in 2010 at Visakhapatnam and scored a duck on debut against Australia. His T20I debut came a year later thanks to his amazing performances in the IPL.

India was looking for an able batter in the Test format after the phasing out of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. It was a young Shikhar Dhawan who stepped up to the plate and made an instant impact.

Here are the top three unique records set by Shikhar Dhawan in International Cricket

3. Only Indian to score a century in his 100th ODI

Shikhar Dhawan set a unique record when he became the only Indian to score a century in his 100th ODI. The left-handed batter achieved this feat during the ODI game versus South Africa in Johannesburg during the 2018 tour. Shikhar Dhawan scored 109 runs off 100 balls and became the 9th batter in international cricket to achieve this feat. Interestingly India has been on the receiving end of this record as 4 other batters have achieved this feat versus the men in blue.

Shikhar Dhawan during the 2018 Test match versus Afghanistan in Bengaluru set a unique record. Only five other batters had achieved this feat which also includes Dhawan’s former IPL opening partner David Warner.

One record many batters will find difficult to break is the fastest-ever Test century on debut, Shikhar Dhawan set this record on his debut game for India during the third Test of the series versus Australia in Mohali. The left-handed batter opened the batting and scored 187 and got to his century in a mere 85 balls. The previous record was held by Dwayne Smith when he got his ton of 93 vs South Africa in 2004.
