India outclassed Bangladesh by a margin of 50 runs in the 47th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua. With this win, India also continued their winning streak in the current edition of the tournament, registering the fifth win in their sixth match of the tournament, with one group-8 stage match getting washed out.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto invited India to bat first after winning the toss; batting first, India got a blistering start of 39 runs in 3.4 overs from the star opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli.

Rohit and Kohli scored 23 and 37 runs off just 11 and 28 balls, respectively. Later, the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant also scored 36 runs off just 24 balls, with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Furthermore, star all-rounder Shivam Dube also showed brilliant form, scoring 34 runs off 24 balls, with 3 sixes followed by Hardik Pandya’s crucial half-century as he smashed 50 runs off just 27 balls, with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain scalped 2 wickets each, alongside one wicket bagged by the former skipper and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Indian bowlers' 'hold the neck' performance against Bangladesh batters in second innings

While chasing the target, it was only the skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was the only high-scorer with the bat, scoring 40 runs off 32 balls, with one four and 3 sixes, alongside Tanzid Hasan’s 29 runs, with 4 fours. Later, Rishad Hossain also scored 24 runs.

The Indian bowlers completely dominated Bangladesh batters and restricted them to the score of only 146 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly and scalped 3 wickets just at the cost of 19 runs in his 4 overs. Besides him, star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah also bowled an amazing spell, scalping 2 wickets just at the cost of only 13 runs in his quota of 4 overs, with an outstanding economy rate of 3.25, alongside Arshdeep Singh’s 2 wickets and 1 wicket picked by Hardik Pandya.

Eventually, India won by 50 runs to register their second successive win in the super-8 stage of the tournament.
