England won the 3-match Test series against Sri Lanka, 2-1. However, losing the third Test match against the Island Nation wasn't something that England expected. On the other hand, Sri Lanka won a red-ball game against England after nine years, creating history for the young team. Pathum Nissanka's century was the highlight of the game.

However, former English cricketer Micheal Vaughan felt that the hosts were 'over-aggressive' in their approach, leading to their defeat. It also seemed like the England team was a bit more relaxed in the 3rd Test compared to the other times. Maybe the series victory was the reason behind this, but Vaughan felt like they disrespected Test cricket and the Sri Lanka team in general.

Vaughan wrote in his column for 'The Telegraph', "I felt that they disrespected Test cricket and disrespected Sri Lanka in the third Test by being over-aggressive with both bat and in their field placings. England have made a bit of a habit of becoming a bit complacent after a good period, I think of the start of the Ashes, or earlier this year in Rajkot and I hope it serves as a wake-up call for the tougher Tests that lie in wait in 2025."

There is no way they will get away with playing like this against India or Australia: Michael Vaughan

As mentioned earlier by Michael Vaughan, England has a habit of letting the ends lose after winning a Test series. However, when it comes to Australia or India, they will have to be more careful since the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 cycle is going on and one mistake will cost the qualification.

"I hope it serves as a wake-up call for the tougher Tests that lie in wait in 2025. There is no way they will get away with playing like this against India or Australia," wrote Michael Vaughan.
