Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has taken a huge dig at the Indian Cricket Fans on Friday. Michael Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote “Morning India” and also attached the stats of Virat Kohli and Joe Root in Test cricket.

Joe Root on Thursday scored his 33rd Test Century to become the joint highest century maker for England. The right-handed batter joined his former skipper Alastair Cook at the top of the list after his splendid ton on Thursday.

Virat Kohli has 29 test centuries compared to the 33 scored by Joe Root. At one stage the former Indian skipper was running away with a massive lead over the former England captain. Post the Pandemic in 2020, Joe Root’s form has seen an upswing as he has gone past Kane Williamson and Steve Smith as well.

Michael Vaughan aims dig at Ollie Pope’s captaincy

When he isn’t trolling Virat Kohli or the Indian fans, Michael Vaughan also takes a dig at his players. This time under the firing line is current England skipper Ollie Pope. The youngster was named the skipper of the side for the Sri Lankan series due to the injury suffered by Ben Stokes.

Michael Vaughan while speaking to the Test Match Special said “I don't like him as the captain. He's not the kind of personality I'd want as the England captain. He's quite an insecure human being—a great team guy and person—but throwing the captaincy on him has added the pressure. He was doing great at number three. Harry Brook, for me, is an England captain in the making. I don't see Pope as that person”

The former England skipper also said “He has looked so frantic for such a good player. I’m amazed that with all the psychologists and the backroom staff that England has, they can’t just calm him down a little bit and give him more of an opportunity.”

“Look at Joe Root, who has the most amazing mentality. He comes out to bat with an amazing routine: he stretches and touches his toes, gets his legs going, and sprints on. I don’t know if I look at Ollie Pope and see a routine or a process.” Vaughan ended by saying to the Test Match Special.
