Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 30 lakhs and banned from playing the team’s next match after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhade Stadium, Mumbai. Moreover, since this was the third time this happened, the entire team including the Impact Player were fined either INR 12 lakhs or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

"As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 30 lakhs and banned from playing the team’s next match. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 lakhs or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," read the IPL Advisory.

It wasn't definitely a good season for Mumbai Indians. They ended their last match of the season on a losing note against LSG, in their own backyard. After having such a terrible season, the men in blue will certainly want to make a great comeback after including some amazing players from the mega auction.

'Did not play good quality cricket...' - Skipper Hardik Pandya after losing the match against LSG

Skipper Hardik Pandya talked about the team's performance after losing the match against LSG by 18 runs. They couldn't chase a target of 215 runs since the batters failed to score runs and form partnerships like how the Super Giants team made during the middle overs. Despite that, they managed to reach 196 runs at the loss of six wickets which was a positive takeaway from this match.

"Did not play good quality cricket, eventually cost us the whole season. It's a professional world. Have to always come out and put our best foot forward. But yes, as a group we could not play quality cricket or smart cricket. Too early to point out what went wrong," said Hardik Pandya at the post-match presentation.
