'The run machine in Women's cricket' - Fans in all praise for star India batter Smriti Mandhana as she misses 'historic' third successive century

The vice-captain and star India batter Smriti Mandhana continued his sensational form in the third and last ODI of the three-match series against South Africa women. She missed her third successive ton in the three-match ODI series. The in-form Southpaw scored 90 runs off 83 balls with 11 fours.

Earlier in the first two ODIs of the three-match ODI series, Mandhana played the sensational century knocks of 117 and 136 runs, respectively. Interestingly, she also picked a wicket in the 2nd ODI against South Africa women at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 

Maintaining her amazing consistency, Mandhana has scored 343 runs in the 3 innings of the 3 matches he played in the ODI series against South Africa. Star opener registered an outstanding and unbelievable average of 114.33, smashing 2 centuries and a half-century.  

Speaking of the action of the dead rubber in the third ODI of the series between India Women and South Africa Women, the visiting skipper Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the Proteas women posted 215 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Skipper Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits played the crucial knocks of 61 and 38 runs, respectively, followed by knocks of 26 runs each, played by Nadine de Klerk and Mieke de Ridder. Arundhati Reddy and Deepti Sharma bagged 2 wickets each, alongside 1 wicket each picked by Shreyanka Patil and Pooja Vastrakar.

Smriti Mandhana's 90 powers India's run-chase

While chasing the target, the match-defining knock of 90 runs played by Smriti Mandhana followed by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s 42 runs, helped India to chase down the target comfortably in 40.4 overs, scoring 220 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Eventually, the women in blue won the game by a big margin of 6 wickets and sealed the series win by a clean sweep margin of 3-0. Smriti Mandhana won the ‘Player of the Match award and ‘Player of the Series Award as well for her iconic performances throughout the ODI series.
