WATCH: Smriti Mandhana completes her 6th ODI century, smashes 117 runs against SA in 1st ODI

Star India batter and vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana completed her 6th ODI century in the ongoing first match of the three-match ODI series against South Africa women. She completed her century in the 43rd over on the third ball of the over with a single following a six against Masabata Klass on the second ball of the over.

Mandhana celebrated the 6th ODI century in her signature celebration style; this ODI century has also come after a long time for Smriti Mandhana. The video of this special moment for Smriti and Team India surfaced on social media as soon as a fan shared it over X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of the action of the match, the hosts India won the toss and decided to bat first; batting first, India posted a total of 265 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs courtesy of Mandhana’s century followed by 37 and 31 runs scored by Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar, respectively.

Ayabonga Khaka scalped 3 wickets for South African women, alongside 2 wickets picked by Masabata Klass. Besides these two, Annerie Dercksen, Nonkululeko Mlaba, and Nondumiso Shangase also bagged one wicket each for the Proteas women.

Notably, Indian women are in action in international cricket after a long time. The last few months in Indian cricket were packed with the Women’s Premier League 2024 followed by the Men’s Indian Premier League 2024. Following this ongoing three-match ODI series, India and South Africa women will also take on each other in an only Test followed by a three-match T20I series across the different venues in India.
