Afghanistan’s historic win against Australia in the crucial super-8 stage game attracted a lot of eyeballs in the entire cricketing fraternity. This ‘iconic’ and ‘historic’ win of Afghanistan against Australia was also an alarming message from their side to the big teams in the cricketing world that they can’t be taken easily or as the minnows anymore.

Meanwhile, the Aussie skipper Mitchell Marsh also came up with a big statement while speaking about the game against India. Notably, the 51st game of the tournament between Australia and India will be a must-win game for the former to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.

“We just need to win,” said Marsh on being asked about the game against India after the Aussies faced an unexpected 21-run defeat against Afghanistan.

“There’s no better team to do it against,” he added later. Interestingly, Australia were coming unbeaten till they faced this defeat against Afghanistan at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown.

"Afghanistan are no more an associate nation" - Mitchell Marsh

Besides speaking about the importance of the game against India, Aussie skipper Mitchell Marsh also heaped praise on the Afghanistan Cricket Team for their brilliant performance and outplaying the 2021 World T20 Champions.

“Obviously, they’re a good side. And they’re not an Associate nation, they’re a very good cricket team that plays against the best all the time and they have improved a hell of a lot over the last few years. They outplayed us tonight and credit to them,” said Mitchell Marsh in his praising remarks for Rashid Khan’s men.

Speaking of the historic turnaround of the events, it was the first-ever win for Afghanistan against the World Champions Australia in either of the formats of the game.

Talking about the Match between Afghanistan and Australia, the Afghans, after a blistering start, were restricted to the score of 148 runs for the loss of 6 wickets courtesy of the second consecutive hat-trick, claimed by Test and ODI skipper, Pat Cummins.
