Afghanistan had scripted history after their 7-wicket win over Papua New Guinea had seen them qualify for the Super-8 stages of the T20 World Cup. There is one massive bad news that Rashid Khan and his team have been dealt with as one star player is set to be ruled out due to injury.

The player in question is no one else but young mystery spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman as the 23-year-old is yet again down with finger injury. Hazratullah Zazai the strong left-handed opening batter has been named as the replacement.

Mujeeb-ur-Rahman had started the tournament with figures of 1/16 from 3 where accounted for the wicket of Simon Ssesazsi. The right-arm spinner didn’t play in the next two matches against New Zealand and Papua New Guinea due to the injury’s recurrence.

Jonathon Trott shows his faith on Noor Ahmad

Former England player and current Afghanistan coach Johnathon Trott has shown his faith on Noor Ahmad to step up to the plate. Noor Ahmad has played two games in the tournament and picked just one wicket so far.

Speaking to the media, the Afghan coach said "He's going to be a big part for us going forward, as these wickets continue to wear”. Trott also said that his side had other spin options to fall back on during the course of the tournament.

"It's always nice to have the option of him to come into the side, or the left-arm spin of Nangeyalia Kharotre who can come into the side - he did really well in the last series against Ireland - and obviously Mohammad Nabi, who can bowl spin as well

The next match for Afghanistan is the top of the table clash against hosts West Indies. If Rashid Khan and his side wins the match they will become the table topper from Group C. This will also earn the Afghans a match against India in Barbados on 20th June.

With 6 points from 3 matches, one of West Indies and Afghanistan will see their winning streak end. The Afghans have a net run-rate of +4.230 which is the best in the tournament. In their last game they easily beat PNG to go top of the table and reach the next stage of the tournament for the very first time.
