The tournament is set to start on the 7th of February in 2026. The defending champions will take on The USA in the inaugural match. The core of the Indian squad is likely to remain intact. Some of the players who featured in the T20 World Cup 2024 are likely to be in the squad.

Players like Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah have featured in the team since then and most of them are sure starters. Along with them, new additions like Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Harshit Rana, Abhishek Sharma, and Varun Chakravarthy are likely to feature.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Shreyas Iyer to snubbed from the T20 World Cup 2026?

Major snubs from the squad could be Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Shreyas Iyer. Jaiswal has been dropped from the T20I side and did not feature in the major series against Australia, South Africa, and in the Asia Cup. Iyer was not even in the reserves for the biggest Asian tournament.

Even if he recovers from the injury, Iyer's chances of making it to the squad seem slim. Rinku Singh is a highly talented player, who might not be preferred due to the team combination. Lower down the order, India has preferred All-rounders and wicketkeeper batters. Hence, he might well be dropped from the T20 World Cup squad.
