The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, is all set to be dismantled after the USA vs India match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The ground's dismantling is due to the drop-in pitches and outfield, which haven't been proven effective during the matches. Hence, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to dissolve the ground, which was a temporary stadium constructed for the T20 World Cup 2024.
The history behind these drop-in pitches is quite interesting, as they were made in Florida and transported to New York. The pitches in New York couldn't be made there due to the extreme weather conditions, so they had to travel more than 1000 km for the games to happen.
There were 10 pitches, four for the main ground and six for the nearby training facility in Cantiague Park, which was prepared by Adelaide Turf International. The entire stadium will not be dismantled. Only the modular components of the stadium will be dissolved, and the turf and infrastructure will be accessible to local clubs and fans.
Let's look at the stats in the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium:
The Nassau County International Cricket stadium was constructed right before the World Cup games began; hence, only eight games were played in this stadium, and all of them were low-scoring thrillers. However, it was a treat for the pace bowlers to play in these conditions as the ball had a good swing and greatly favored them.
