To avoid imitating Rohit Sharma's antics, India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav recently disclosed that he avoids the stump mike. Indian fans adore Rohit's stump mic chirps, which cause them to become viral on social media. "Garden mein ghoomne wale ladke" (Boys who leisurely stroll in the garden) is one of his best-known stump mic chirps, and he used it to describe sluggish fielders.
Following Rohit Sharma's departure from Twenty20 Internationals, Suryakumar was recently asked if guys still move in the garden. The India captain responded humorously, saying that since no one moves anymore, he doesn't stop anyone from doing so. He also talked about how he prefers to avoid the stump when addressing players, stating that a person's area of expertise should be kept private.
"Nahi, mai nahi rokta hu kisi ko kyuki koi ghumta hi nahi hai. Try karta hoon door rahoon stumps se. Agar kisi ka woh specialty hai toh won unhe ke sath rahe toh zada better hai." (I don't stop anyone because no one roams around. I try to stay away from the stumps. If it's someone's specialty, then it should stay with that person only)," Suryakumar Yadav said on Star Sports.
When questioned if he now knows Rohit's "ye-woh" (this-that) language, Suryakumar amusingly retorted that he gets to hear it anytime he takes a stroll in the yard. "Haan woh jab hum ghumte rehte hai garden mai, woh sunne ko mil hi jata hai." (Yes, when we roam in the garden, we get to hear those things,)" he added.
India won the first T20I under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav
In the meantime, since taking over as the team's permanent T20I captain, Suryakumar has demonstrated incredible leadership. In 11 games since July 2024, the 34-year-old has been the team's captain, winning nine of them and dropping just one. Additionally, India has won three consecutive series under his leadership so far, and they defeated England by seven wickets to start a new series off to a fantastic start.
