Suresh Raina asks CSK to retain Ravindra Jadeja for IPL 2026

Suresh Raina claimed Ravindra Jadeja to be a gun player and wanted Chennai Super Kings to retain him for the IPL 2026. The former CSK star noted that the veteran All-rounder has done well for the 5-time champions over the years. He also wanted Noor Ahmad and MS Dhoni to be retained and Ruturaj Gaikwad to be backed as the skipper of CSK in the IPL 2026.

Speaking with Star Sports ahead of the IPL 2026 retention, Raina felt the need for Jadeja to continue with CSK. As reports claimed a near confirmation of the trade between the Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, with Sanju Samson potentially set to move to Chennai, he felt Jadeja had a lot to offer for CSK.

"Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a gun player for CSK. He has done really, really well for the team over the years, so 'Sir Ravindra Jadeja' has to be there," Raina said to Star Sports.

"MS Dhoni should definitely be retained, Ruturaj Gaikwad should continue as captain," - Suresh Raina

He further added that Noor Ahmad must be retained for CSK as he believed him to be a mystery spinner. He also backed MS Dhoni to play for the 5-time champions for yet another season. However, Raina wanted Ruturaj Gaikwad to be the skipper, who missed out on the second half of the IPL 2025 due to an injury.

"Noor Ahmad should be retained. He’s a mystery spinner, so he must be kept. MS Dhoni should definitely be retained; he is playing this year, so he should remain with the team. Ruturaj Gaikwad should continue as captain," Raina added in his statement.
