LSG appoints Kane Williamson as its Strategic Advisor for IPL 2026 (X)

Kane Williamson will be a part of Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2026 as the Strategic Advisor, as confirmed by Sanjiv Goenka. The LSG owner took to X and was glad to welcome the New Zealand great onboard. LSG will be the second Super Giants franchise for Kane after SA20's Durban.
Goenka took to X and noted that Williamson has been a part of DSG in the SA20. He was delighted to welcome Kane onboard as LSG's Strategic Advisor for the IPL 2026. Sanjiv hoped LSG would make the most of Kane's deep understanding of the game, leadership, ability to inspire players, and strategic insights.

Kane Williamson's downward trajectory in the IPL since 2022
The last few years have been challenging for Kane in T20 cricket. In particular in the IPL, the star player has suffered a huge slump since 2022. For SRH in the IPL 2022, he delivered one of the poorest performances of all time, scoring 216 runs in 13 innings at an average of 19.64 and a meagre strike rate of 93.51.

In the IPL 2023, Kane injured his shoulders during the inaugural match and was ruled out of the rest of the season. In 2024, he got a chance to play in just a couple of matches, where he scored 27 runs at an average of 13.50 and a strike rate of 100. In 2025, he went unsold in the player auctions.
